The council guarantees that young people’s voices are not only heard but also integrated into the decision-making process for health services they access.
It is made up of young people aged between 12 and 19, from across Hertfordshire and west Essex, who were recruited to be Youth Ambassadors.
The ICB’s Youth Ambassadors include young people who are carers or are living with disability and are representative of the communities they are living in.
It provides valuable feedback on a number of different health issues and also advises health leads and those from our partner organisations on a number of projects.
The Youth Council currently meets on a monthly basis during term time, from September to July, online, with a face to face meeting planned to mark the end of the academic year.
You can watch a number of short films produced by the Youth Ambassadors as part of their commitment to helping us better understand their needs, based on a number of different themes:
- Approaching health issues for children and young people
- Visiting GP surgeries
- Ways to encourage young people to visit pharmacies
- How young people would like to be communicated with
- Experiences of visiting GP surgery
- Main focus for keeping healthy
- What young people feel parents and teachers need to be more educated about
- Top health topics young people
You can also watch a longer version which combines clips from the individual shorts.
