Integrated Care System (ICS)
The purpose of all integrated care systems in England is to: improve outcomes in population health and healthcare; tackle inequalities in outcomes, experience, and access; enhance productivity and value for money and help the NHS support broader social and economic development.

About our Integrated Care System (ICS)
We are a partnership of organisations in Hertfordshire and West Essex that work together to improve health. We are one of 42 ICSs in England and we came into being as part of the Health and Social Care Act 2022. -
What we do
The Hertfordshire and West Essex Integrated Care System, (ICS) plans and delivers health and social care services to people living in Hertfordshire and Essex, in 13 district and borough council areas. -
About our area
We support a population of around 1.6 million people across Hertfordshire and West Essex. It is a growing and increasingly diverse population. Our area is home to some of the healthiest people in the country, at the same time there are communities with high levels of deprivation, poor health, and much lower levels of life expectancy. -
Our plans, strategies and priorities
Here are the plans and strategies, developed locally and nationally, which guide the work that takes place across our integrated care system to improve the health, wellbeing and quality of life of the 1.6 million residents of Hertfordshire and West Essex. Our priority actions are informed by these strategies. -
