Congratulations on taking your first step on focusing on managing your type 2 diabetes.
I’m Monir Ali.
I have type 2 diabetes, but I am controlling it.
Over the last two years, I’ve been helping people in the same situation as me manage type 2 diabetes for a programme called DLC, Diabetes Lifestyle Coaching.
There’s so much information out there, it can be quite confusing, but what do we do? We either ignore it or make excuses for it and carry on as business as usual.
If you’re serious about your type 2 diabetes and better management, I want to improve your health and lifestyle.
Listen, learn and watch these videos, but more importantly, take action on the information given.
My aim is to help you kickstart your journey by learning about how to reduce your blood sugar levels, which ultimately leads to a healthier lifestyle.
But first, my story.
I’m British Bangladeshi, a photographer, I have a young family, and I’ve always, always had a problem with my health, fitness, and weight.
So, I put on my big boy pants and I want to take back control of my type 2 diabetes.
Three years later from a higher 10.
9, and as of September, 2023, I’m in the pre-diabetic zone, but now my focus is on remission and I’ve got a lot of work to do.
Over the series of films, we’ll focus on DLC triangle, on diet, lifestyle and mindset.
At the moment, your mindset is tuned to the negatives based around the cultural and social norms that define you and who you are.
You need to change the way you think about yourself, your health, your food, and your activities.
Diet isn’t about dieting, it’s about your dietary habits.
It’s what you eat, when you eat, how you eat, and how much you eat.
Getting active, what does it mean? It means getting off the couch, but not necessarily hitting the gym hard or running a marathon.
It’s about increasing your activity levels throughout the day, burning off the excess energy that you have, feeling fitter and healthier.
Over the next series of films, I’ll going to be talking to professionals whose job it is to make yours and my life easier in managing a type 2 diabetes.
We’ll be talking to a food psychologist, a food nutritionist, a personal trainer, and a resident doctor.
So, if you’re ready to take up the challenge, stop making these excuses, watch these videos, and learn how to take back control of your life and manage your type 2 diabetes.
You owe it to yourself.
You owe it to your family.
What you waiting for?
