Here are the plans and strategies, developed locally and nationally, which guide the work that takes place across our integrated care system to improve the health, wellbeing and quality of life of the 1.6 million residents of Hertfordshire and West Essex. Our priority actions are informed by these strategies.

This document sets out how we will meet the challenge of commissioning the services our population needs, both now and in the future, whilst staying within the budget we have been allocated. -
Primary Care Strategic Delivery Plan 2023-26
This sets out how we aim to develop GP, community pharmacy, dentistry, and ophthalmology services across Hertfordshire and west Essex to benefit patients and communities over the next three years. -
Hertfordshire Health and Wellbeing Strategy 2022-26
This strategy sets clear priorities for health and care services, to contribute to achieving better outcomes and reducing health inequalities for people of all ages. -
Hertfordshire and West Essex Joint Forward Plan 2024 – 2029
Our Joint Forward Plan sets out the actions that the Hertfordshire and West Essex health and care system will take over the next five years to deliver on our ambition to help build a brighter and healthier future for everyone who lives and works in our area. -
Essex Joint Health and Wellbeing Strategy 2022-26
This strategy focuses on preventing people from experiencing poor health and promoting health improvement, in order to improve health and wellbeing outcomes for residents and a reduction in health inequalities. -
Hertfordshire Joint Strategic Needs Assessment
Hertfordshire's Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA) looks at the specific health and social care needs of Hertfordshire’s population and points out areas of inequality. It helps public bodies decide what type of local services to commission. -
Essex Joint Strategic Needs Assessment
Essex’s Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA) sets out an evidence base to inform decisions on health and wellbeing priorities. It is designed to be a live resource for organisations across Essex. -
Hertfordshire Corporate Plan 2022-25
The corporate plan sets out Hertfordshire County Council’s vision for a cleaner, greener, and healthier Hertfordshire, improving health and wellbeing, protecting and improving the environment, supporting sustainable growth and providing excellent and accessible services. -
The environment and our Green Plan
A poor environment can impact negatively on our health, and it is linked to heart problems, mental health issues and more. In Hertfordshire and West Essex, we aim to help reduce the impact on the environment, leading to improvements in people’s health. -

This strategy supports integrated workforce planning, innovation and new ways of working, a sustainable workforce supply, improved staff wellbeing, experience, and education, talent, and leadership development. -
VCFSE Alliance Health Creation Strategy
The Voluntary, Community, Faith and Social Enterprise (VCFSE) Alliance’s health creation strategy is designed to promote and enhance the role of this sector in promoting health and wellbeing and addressing the wider determinants of health. -
