Executive Clinical Director of Total Quality Management

Sarah joined the ICB as Executive Clinical Director Total Quality Managementfrom NHS Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes ICB where she was the Chief Nursing Director.

She is an experienced senior clinical leader with a career spanning acute and critical care, quality improvement, patient safety, and system-wide transformation.

Sarah trained as a nurse in 1992 at the Royal Free Hospital in London and has worked across a range of clinical settings including Newham General Hospital, the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust, and critical care services in Australia and Malawi. Her clinical background includes more than 15 years as a consultant nurse in intensive care, alongside leadership roles such as surgical ward sister, Interim Director of Nursing, Director of Improvement, and Divisional Medical Director.

Alongside her executive responsibilities, Sarah continues to practise clinically as a Consultant Nurse in critical care and resuscitation. She is also a trained improvement advisor with a strong track record in driving measurable improvements in quality, equity, safeguarding, and patient and resident safety. Sarah is passionate about improving healthcare provision through innovation, evidence-based practice, and collaborative leadership, always grounded in high-quality, compassionate patient care.
