Councillor Tina Bhartwas is the Hertfordshire District Councils’ representative on the Hertfordshire and West Essex Integrated Care Partnership.
Tina has been a Hertfordshire County Councillor since May 2021 and a North Herts District Councillor since May 2024 where she is Health Equalities Champion and nominated to the Hertfordshire County Council’s Health Scrutiny Committee. She also currently serves as a school governor at a local school where she has a particular focus on SEND and sits on the Policy and Standards and Achievement Committee.
Tina’s personal experience of poverty, domestic abuse, homelessness and challenges with chronic ill health has cemented her belief that healthcare must be viewed holistically and that barriers that many vulnerable groups face to access must be tackled. Tina’s health interests include mental health especially amongst young people, health outcomes for those in the global majority and raising awareness of women’s health issues.
Tina’s professional background is in digital communications and grassroots campaigns where she has communicated complex and sensitive matters to diverse audiences and built relationships with a wide range of stakeholders. She is keen to offer her expertise to make a positive impact on the health of Hertfordshire residents.
Tina’s past experience includes being a member of the Unite Foundation Sounding Board helping to get better outcomes for fellow estranged and care-experienced young people at university. As Vice-Chair of the North Herts and Stevenage Centre for Voluntary Service she took the lead during the pandemic as a Covid Information Champion, ensuring accurate information was distributed within the local community on prevention, lockdowns and the vaccine rollout.
Tina’s hobbies include a love of art, reading, history and other cultural pursuits. She is committed to increasing opportunities for others to engage in these valuable enrichment activities which have such a profound impact on mental health.
