Talking about death, dying and grief can be hard, but it’s an important way for us to help each other through an inevitable fact of life. We may all talk about death and dying in a multitude of ways, but we share a common thread.
This year’s Dying Matters Awareness Week runs from 5-12 May, and the focus is on the culture of dying: how different communities and groups deal with death in different ways.
There are lots of events taking place across Hertfordshire and west Essex if you are interested in these conversations, or if you need help and support. This PDF contains all the details you need. There is also information on the Dying Matters website. Events range from talks about advance care planning and mythbusting, to a trolley dash and compassionate cafes.
Whichever event you go to, you’ll find a warm welcome and a sensitive discussion of what can be a difficult topic. Everyone deals with death differently: what matters is that we can talk about it.
