Qlik Cloud is a powerful new tool designed to transform how workforce data is used across the NHS in Hertfordshire and west Essex. It has been shortlisted in in both the Driving Change Through Data Analytics and Enhancing Workforce Engagement and Productivity Through Digital categories of the HSJ Digital Awards, run by the Health Service Journal.
Developed by Hertfordshire and West Essex Integrated Care Board in collaboration with all five Trust providers – East and North Hertfordshire Trust, The Princess Alexandra Hospital Trust, Hertfordshire Partnership University Trust, Hertfordshire Community Trust, and West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals Trust – this is the first system-wide dashboard of its kind, backed by a GDPR-compliant information-sharing agreement and recognised by NHS England.
Accredited users will be able to compare workforce data across staff groups, roles, headcount, sickness absence, turnover, vacancies, demographic information, elective care activity and workforce costs. Data is held securely and can be used to identify patterns and trends to support strategic and efficient workforce planning, so that the right health professionals are available when patients need them.
Tania Marcus, Director of People and Culture at Hertfordshire and West Essex Integrated Care Board, said:
“I’m delighted that we’ve been shortlisted in one of the most prestigious awards schemes in the health and social care sector.
“The most important resource we have is our skilled and caring workforce. We need to ensure we have people in place to meet our area’s needs now, as well as making sure we’re fit for the challenges of the future.
“This dashboard is already giving NHS organisations a consistent way of collecting and reporting workforce data, giving us a clearer understanding of our entire workforce. This means that we can collaborate with partners and providers to develop long-term, skills-based workforce plans that are aligned with population needs.
“We are now developing the next phase of the project, which will include primary care and social care data.”
Tania’s team will now make a presentation to a panel of judges in March, before the winners are announced at a ceremony in Birmingham on 19 May.
